Hi my beautiful daisies! Spring has finally sprung, we are definitely in the midst of the April shower (or hail) and this very thing inspired my nail tutorial today – April Shower May Flower Nail Tutorial.
Like all my other tutorials, it is very simple and fun to do. So let’s take out your nail polishes and get started:
Step 1: Apply your favourite base coat (Natural Nail Base Coat by OPI) to protct your natural nail.
Step 2: Apply 2 coats of grey polish (Who is the Boss by Essie) onto thumb, index and pinky. Apply 2 coats of white (Alpine Snow by OPI) onto the middle finger and a light green (Green with Envy) onto the ring finger.
Step 3: Dip a medium size dotting tool into a white polish (White on by Sally Hansen) to create cloud on fingers that have the grey polish. Start by outlining the cloud with the dotting tool. Then fill in the blank in the middle. Repeat the same step for all the index finger and pinky.
Step 4: Dip a toothpick into a dark green polish (Royal Shyness by Sally Hansen) and start drawing the grass on the bottom of the nail. To draw the grass just use the toothpick with the green polish and drag upward to create a flicking motion. To create some dimension, you can use a lighter green Green with Envy by Sally Hansen) to draw some of the grass on top of the darker green grass. Repeat the same step on index finger and pinky.
Step 5: Once the grass is done, we can start putting the rain on. To draw the rain, dip a toothpick into a brighter blue polish (I’m Addicted by Essie) then make a tear drop shape. In order to draw the tear drop, you have to start from the bottom of the tear drop (the biggest part of the tear drop), pause for a moment then drag the toothpick upward. Repeat the same step for the index finger and pinky.
Step 6: Now it’s time to do the May flower. Use a purple nail striper (Purple by Sally Hansen) to create some flower petals. I also used a light blue (Bikini so Teeny by Essie), light pink (Pink Cadillaquer by Sally Hansen) and yellow (Hot Yellow by CM Nail art) to draw the flowers. The edges of the flowers do not have to be perfect because real flowers aren’t perfect so just go ahead and draw them on your nail.
Step 7: Use a dark green polish (Royal Shyness by Sally Hansen) to draw some leaves beside the flowers.
Step 8: To finsih off the flowers, use a magenta nail polish (Crazy for Chic by L’Oreal) to fill in the centre of the flower. All you need to do is to use this poish to draw a star or dip the dotting tool into the polish and dot the centre.
Step 9: It will not be a GlitterMommy nail tutorial without some glitters. So apply a green glitter (Trash Glam by Quo by Orly) onto the ring finger.
Step 10: Finally, apply your favourite top coat (Seche Vite) to protect your design and add a beautiful shine then you are DONE!
Thank you very much for reading! I hope you like this design. If you recreate it, please share it with me on my GlitterMommy Facebook Page.
Have a wonderful night! XOXO
