Happy March Break Everyone!!! I am sure a lot of parents out there are looking for something fun for your kids to do this week. Even though my kids are not school age yet, we still try to go to some sort of event or activity every week especially as the weather gets warmer. To be honest, we are very luck in Burlington because there are a lot to offer. One of the activities that we go every year is the Bronte Creek Maple Syrup Festival.\u00a0I love going to the Maple Syrup Festival because it reminds me so much of my elementary school time. My husband and I are so glad we can take our kids to do the same activity that we grew up with.<\/p>\n

We took our kids to the Bronte Creek Maple Syrup Festival last Sunday (March 15, 15) and it was about -5\u00baC with pretty strong wind. The snow is usually melting in March so dress warmly and put the kids in boots. On that day, Princess A was wearing warm pants, jacket and rain boots. As for the twins, they are only 18 months and they are not very stable with walking so my husband and I decided to carry them in carriers.<\/p>\n

The entrance fee for going into the park is $16 per vehicle. We got there at around 11:30am and the first thing we hit up is the pancake house because all of us were hungry. \"Pancake\"<\/a> \"Bacon\"<\/a>We ordered the family platter which includes 10 pancakes, 4 drinks, 4 syrups, 10 bacons or 10 sausages and that costs $30 for our family. There is an indoor area where there are tables setup so it will be nice and warm when you are eating. There are actually quite a bit of food and we can barely finish them.<\/p>\n

Once our bellies are\"Tour<\/a> full, we then took the wagon ride to go to the Maple Syrup guided tour. It was an easy to understand (suitable for 3 years old and up) and interactive tour. The walk takes about 30 minutes, basically the tour guide will walk you through the history of Maple Syrup. During the walk, you will be able to see sap collected in the bucket tapped on the tree. Also, you will see how those sap becomes maple syrup in different time period.<\/p>\n

At the end of the tour, there are a few farm animals for the kids to check out, like cows, turkeys and pigs. In addition, there are Victorian face cut out pose for the kids to take picture with.<\/p>\n

Of course, the highlight of the whole tour for the kids is the different types of candies they can indulge in. \"Aly<\/a> \"Aly<\/a>There are maple sugar candy which costs $0.50 each or if you are into more messy candy eating experience, you can try the Maple Taffy on a stick for $2. As for us, we opt for a cleaner option for Princess A, she picked a maple syrup lollipop which costs $2.<\/p>\n

After all those candy fun, we headed into the Victorian House to see how the Victorians live back in the day. It was a good cool down time for the kids. Then our last adventure for the girls were to go on a pony ride which costs $5 for about 2 laps and there are a few different ponies for the kids to choose. This is Princess A’s first ever pony ride and she did amazing!! She was not scared and she stayed on the saddle the whole time. We are very proud of Princess A and that $5 was very well spent.\u00a0\"Aly's<\/a> \"Aly<\/a><\/p>\n

In the end, we spent a total of 3.5 hours at the festival and we had a blast even though it was a little cold but that’s the nature of weather during the maple syrup festival. We can’t wait for the kids to be older so they can start appreciating the actual tour but I think they had a wonderful time since they napped for 2 hours after the whole experience.<\/p>\n

There are only 2 more weeks left for the festival, so take advantage of the march break and go there with your kids. I highly recommend it. We will definitely go again next year.<\/p>\n
